Clinched Fists

To all you blogees, blogsters, and blog-addicts, before you go off pegging me as a disgrace to the world of blogging, just keep in mind that the pot has been stirred one too many times the past few weeks. I've had thoughts running wild like a beastly stallion let lose in the middle of the night. In other words, my thoughts thus written (or should I say typed) are ones of insanity. Excuse me while I share.

We are all so good at holding on. In fact, I think I've mastered the art of keeping a tight grip on my life. If it is not our own strength that enables us to surrender and finally let go, then it must be something stronger and greater than that which always gets in the way - self.

I sure have mastered the art, have you? I have a serious condition. I have clinched fists. It's like a horrible disease that one acquires. Like much of clinched fist scenarios, it takes an even tighter grip to rip apart the glue of not letting go.

For some of us, we hold on tightly to our financial accounts and the money that we find to give us instant gratification. There are others that place a firm grip upon the souls of others, wanting to never have to walk away from relationships and people even when it is in their best interest. There are also those of us who are terrified to leave one job while fearing that the next will not support, satisfy, or fully fulfill.

It is not uncommon to find that the very things that we place our grip on, are so closely linked and connected to memories and seasons that are not meant to gain ownership in. You see, sometimes in order to gain all that which we desire, we must walk away from the very things that we have so foolishly mistaken as necessities in life. All of this money, these people, or careers do not make us who we are, they merely inform the very details of our being.

We hang on tightly in fear that by letting go, we will never attain something greater. I don't know about you, but I'm so tired of claiming ownership over something that isn't even mine. Why not relinquish the responsibility and lighten the load a bit?

I've decided to start traveling light.

If I want to get anywhere in life, I'm going to have to lighten my load and travel with little. If I desire to move forward, I must shed some of things that I carry with me in unnecessary frustration of weighted pain. It's time to travel freely through life with arms wide open.

No longer will I live with clinched fists.

Something Borrowed

Aside from the fact that I'd like to see the new film this weekend, Something Borrowed (Check out the trailer), I'd like to share a little snippet of something I borrowed. I take great pride in letting all of you out there in the world of blogging know that I did not borrow anyone's significant other. I simply "borrowed" a quote. :) I like to follow various blogs of others varying in topics such as fashion, decor, crafting, & the list goes onnnnnnn. One of my favs to keep up with is Decor Amor. Yesterday she quoted what she had read in a magazine. I'd have to agree with this quote...

"When I cannot bear outer pressures anymore,
I begin to put order in my belongings...
As if unable to organize and control my life,
I seek to exert this on the world of objects."

So cleaning out a closet this weekend is a must. In the meantime I'm attempting to put together a series of "hodgepodge" outfits to spice up my wardrobe a bit. Pictures. SOON.

In the meantime, check out my Mother and I in our photos from the Earth Wind & Fire concert last Sunday. It was a blasty blast!

Toodles! :)

I'll Have What You're Having

Hello blogosphere! Since Cinco De Mayo, I have been inspired to keep my weekends more interesting than they've been as of late. I've gotten pretty used to sleeping in late and enjoying my rest but doing nothing worthy of a play-by-play description. I thought to myself, "If your life was a novel on a shelf, would anyone want to read it?" Oooh what a sleepy selection it would be. I decided to pick up the pace a little bit this weekend with an early start to a Mother's Day extravaganza.

Take a peek - I know you want to! :)

It started with a tasty (yet far from guiltless) no-bake delectable treat. One of my friends made this years ago and I dug out the recipe tucked away - I just had to share this wonder with everyone. I call it the choco-peanut butter oat bar.

So the choco-whatchamacallits turned out f.a.b.u.l.o.u.s. Trust me - I tried just one ;) Then earlier today I was out with my Mom & we spotted a garage sale. I thought since this is Mother's Day weekend, I would celebrate her by showing her how great I am at getting remarkable deals - I thought I'd make her proud. It turns out I only made myself proud, but here are my finds:

1. Silver (or not so silver) platter $0.75
2. Black hipster bag $0.50
3. Teal hipster bag $0.50
4. Creamer dish $0.10
{{Grand Total: $1.85}}

It was essential that the weekend get better; and it did! This evening our church planned a Mother/daughter/granddaughter outing that happened to be right up my crafty little alley. We went to this pottery painting venue called "Starving Artist". It was quite fun to hang with ladies of all ages and get to splatter a bit of paint and call it "art". I've made two mugs in the past, so I decided to do a vase this time. I can't wait to post pictures from the final product after it gets fired. Here are a few fun shots from this evening.

Grandma with her pottery.

My Mom & Grandmother. Aren't they beautiful!

3 Generations

A work in progress. My pandemonium of a vase!

And here's to a final product.

Here's my artsy friend Pam. :)

And the lovely Kayla & I.

Saturday night synopsis: S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

Pottery accompanied by a succulent treat and an evening that gave me a great excuse to sport my new $0.50 handbag. Hello weekend, I'll have what you're having!

Tomorrow I'll be seeing Earth Wind & Fire in concert with Mom. I think I'll have some of that too!

Cinco De Mayo Mi Amigos

Did you inhale chips & salsa (with numerous glasses of ice cold water in close proximity)? Perhaps you went to Taco Bell & convinced yourself that the empanadas although appearing to be apple turnovers and tasting exactly like a mini apple pie, were not that at all- they simply the American version of an empanada. Or maybe you wore a sombrero all day to work as coworkers passed by only to see a tiny portion of an odd straw hat peeking out of the top of your cubicle - hey, you're all about being the life of the party at your office. Some of you may have even downloaded a quick jam on Itunes so you could jam out to "Suavemente" in your car throughout the day to honor your fellow Mexican friends. Whatever it is that you did, thank you for honoring myself and all of my friends and family. They too want to say to you, "muchos gracias". Most of them have very poor English so I send their gratitude all the way from, yes you guessed it, Mexico!

Happy Cinco De Mayo!
I know I'm a day late, but our culture is notorious for that!
