Lists, life & letting go...

So I made a list this past weekend that I posted online for all of you faithful (or not-so-faithful) followers to read. Thus, I am held accountable to the world of blogging to check, check, check, and yes, you guessed it, check it off!! Well, I am saddened to be the bearer of bad news but this week got a little crazy between my oh so roller coaster emotions and my belly ache on Saturday morning, that I forgot to give the list a good old checkaroo!! I did however demolish portions of the to dos that have hovered over me.

Here you have it folks:
1.
Put my clean clothes away (stuffed under the bed does not count).
Okay, so I didn't exactly stuff them under the bed but I didn't exactly as much as lay a finger on them either....
2.
Clean out the closet in the guest bedroom with stuff from when I moved home last year.
Errrrr.....guilty again!!!!
3.
Take out the trash in my room (I've discovered an inch deep trash can is not as practical as I had anticipated).
CHECK, CHECK, CHECK!!!! That's right, there's no more old yogurt containers laying around.
4.
Get a tan at the beach.
CHECK!!! Somehow I managed to mark that one off the list amid my hectic week. Wheeewww!!! (While wiping the sweat off my brow) I don't know how I found time to get that done!
5.
Go for a jog every day.
HALF CHECK! I almost did the three consecutive days of jogging. I jogged Friday after work & Saturday evening. Sunday night when I was supposed to run, I had a little bit of computer malfunctions I had to tend. Thus, leaving me with a "half check"! :)

So our house is officially going up for sale. Those words "FOR SALE" have been so daunting lately. I've been witnessing my Mother in the past week digging through closets and throwing out the unnecessary items we often collect over the years. I'm not a big fan of this whole concept of packing up and leaving behind the past twenty-three years. It's kind of scary actually. But this is what I have been reminded of as of late.

1. Your things are not really your things.
2. Four walls do not make up a home, those you love do.
3. Transition is as exciting as it is difficult.
4. New opportunity awaits you in the middle of your trial.
5. Everything happens for a reason.
6. Sometimes desolate seasons in life bring you to a place you might otherwise have not had the courage to venture out to.

Perhaps living under the palm trees might not be so bad afterall!

I have discovered that as I so quickly mastered the art of clinched fists (read a recent post pertaining this topic), I must just as swiftly learn to let go. The grip I have had on my life has been a concern of control over things that have not so much had a hold on my life as much as I have simply allowed them to. It is time to put the past in the past. That will be on my to-do list for this weekend!!!
